Accepting Feedback

Sir Dave Brailsford shares his personal reflections on receiving performance feedback

Learning points

Feedback is essential to closing the gap between how you currently operate and your full potential.

It can feel uncomfortable at first but becomes so valuable when it is task-focused and delivered by someone you trust.

Asking for specific advice from someone can help you understand your impact on others and to help sharpen your skills.

Apply the learning

How can you introduce more regular, informal feedback to bolster any annual appraisal-type 360s.

Pick some people you trust and ask them for specific advice on something you'd like to develop.

Ask them for more information on what they saw and, importantly, what specifically you can adapt to improve your approach next time.

When you become a role model for requesting and applying feedback, it will have a positive effect across your team.
